1st Birthday Party

We had Lucy's 1st Birthday party on Saturday. We had a great time celebrating with family, friends, and neighbors. Lucy had lots of fun opening all of her wonderful presents (thanks everyone). She LOVED her yummy birthday smash cake, but didn't make much of a mess. The cake didn't stand a chance, and she definitely put a dent in the cake, but she kept herself fairly clean. She had a terrific first birthday and we look forward to many more to come.

Katie & Mike's Wedding

Jason's sister Katie got married last weekend. As you can see, I was a bridesmaid for her special day. Other than being extremely hot, it was a beautiful day and a wonderful wedding. We were able to see and spend time with lots of family. Lucy spent the entire reception walking around and playing with the balloons. It doesn't take much to entertain her. Congratulations Katie and Mike. We are very happy for you.

One Year Old

Lucy is one year old. Wow, how a year can fly by. It's amazing how much she has changed in the last year. It's impossible to remember what our lives were like before Lucy. She brings joy to each and every day. Amazingly, she sat still for this picture. You can still see in her poor eyes that she doesn't feel 100%, but she is smiling, so that must mean something. Here is what Lucy is up to these days.
  • Weight (at one-year appt.) = 20 pounds (32nd percentile)
  • Height (at one-year appt.) = 30 inches (78th percentile)
  • She has twelve teeth - the 4 front ones on top and bottom plus all four of her molars. She is already working on cutting her incisors. You can see them getting ready to come through. She must be in a hurry to get teeth over with.
  • She is officially walking. She chooses to walk most times now over crawling.
  • Completely off of formula and drinking whole milk which she LOVES. She drinks it better than she ever drank formula.
  • NO MORE BOTTLES. Once we stopped formula, we went ahead and stopped bottles (she was only using one at bedtime). Turns out, she doesn't need a bedtime bottle to sleep through the night.
  • Still sleeping through the night. Goes to bed around 8pm. On daycare days, we have to wake her up at 5:45am, but if we don't have to wake her up, she sleeps until 7-8am.
  • Still LOVES the dog and it is her favorite word to say. Just about everything is considered dog.
  • Favorite toys: books, ball machine, learning table, any kind of blocks
  • Favorite foods: hot dogs, mandarin oranges, peas, carrots, green beans, pancakes, ravioli, macaroni and cheese

Late Posting

Today was Lucy's first birthday. It was slightly bittersweet. It's so hard to believe that a year has passed. I say bittersweet, because instead of it being a Happy Birthday for Lucy, she spent the day (and the days before) being sick. Usually, by the end of the day, I have posted her picture with her sign stating her age. However, because we have had a sick little girl on our hands this week, the sign picture will be delayed. Hopefully she will be feeling better by tomorrw so that she can go back to school (that's what we call daycare) and they can do their birthday celebration for her, however, who knows if she will feel well enough to cooperate for a picture. We just hope she feels well enough by Saturday for her big birthday party. What a bummer to be sick on your birthday.

Deck Works New Foreman??

We are having a new deck built this week, and Lucy has been very interested in the work going on outside the back door. We are calling her the little "foreman" watching over the workers as they do their job to make sure they are doing it right. She stands there and talks to them even though they can't hear her. It's very cute.

How cute is she???

We had Lucy's one-year pictures done a couple of weekends ago by Jamie Sangar. We couldn't be happier with how they turned out. Here are a few of them. You can see the rest of them on her blog. ENJOY!!

We have a Walker!!!

Well, we can officially say that Lucy is walking. She still prefers to crawl most of the time, but she is definitely standing up and walking more and more often than before. She's been taking steps for a couple of weeks now, but in the past couple of days, she has really started to find her balance and walk greater distances. Here's the proof:
