First Tooth

We have a first tooth sighting! One of Lucy's teachers from daycare told us that she noticed her first tooth had broken through. It apparently had happened overnight and we hadn't noticed it yet before we had taken her to daycare this morning. Now we understand why Lucy woke up twice last night crying. Normally she is hungry, but she wasn't that interested in food. Since she is so young, we didn't really think about the possibility of her teething. Time for the Eder family to test out our teething ring collection.

Lucy's First Christmas

We had a very eventful Christmas this year, with four different gatherings to attend. Lucy got to meet several new family members. It made for several long days, and some late nights getting home, but we survived. We are so thankful that most of our family is so close and that we were able to spend the holidays with them.

Ummmmmmmm......Rice Cereal

Lucy got to try rice cereal for the first time tonight as well as sit in her new high chair. It actually went a little better than we thought it would. We think she actually might have consumed some of it, but there was also a lot of spitting out. It is quite convenient that she just learned to blow bubbles (on purpose) the other day and now we are trying to feed her food. Guess what she does when you feed her??? That's right, blows bubbles, therefore blowing cereal right in your face. Here are a few pictures from the first go around.

4 Month Appointment

Lucy had her 4 month appointment on Friday. The pediatrician said that she is perfect (which we already knew). She is fighting a cold right now and has a terrible runny nose, but it doesn't seem to bother her, except when you try to wipe her nose. She sometimes sounds like a little piglet with her breathing which is actually kind of cute, but we hope she gets better soon. Here are her stats.
Weight: 14 pounds (60th percentile)
Height: 26 inches (95th percentile)
Based on those numbers, I wonder which parent she will take after. Tall and skinny???? We were given the official go ahead to start solid food, so we are planning on starting that on Monday with some rice cereal. I'll be sure and post some pictures of that experience, because I'm anticipating that it will be quite messy.

Christmas Through the Years

Every year, a group of us from high school gets together for Christmas (that's not the only time we get together, but we always do Christmas). This years gathering was on Saturday and was at our house. It is amazing how much we have all changed, and how our group has grown through the years. I decided to dig through my pictures to see if I could find any from our previous years. Over the years, with children, our group has grown from 6 to 11 (with 2 more on the way). They are an amazing group of girls and I love them to death.

Can you hear me????

Lucy has discovered that her voice can be louder if she so chooses, and apparently today is the day she chose to show us her skills.

There are toys on this thing????

Lucy discovered for the first time today that there are toys dangling from her rain forest play mat. Today was the first day that she noticeably made a purposeful movement towards playing with them.

Lucy is literally smiling all the time, so we love getting pictures of her "all gums." Here are some recent favorites of her.

Lucy's a Big Girl

When we picked Lucy up from daycare one day, they had her in one of these, so we decided to break ours out and see how she liked it. As you can see, we have to put a book under her feet to reach (finally those old huge pharmacy books have a purpose!!!), but she seems to enjoy it. She doesn't play with the toys yet, but all in due time.

First Family Halloween Party

We attended our first Halloween Party as a family at our friends Nick and Krissy's house in Fort Wayne. Mommy and Daddy went as a pregnant nun and a priest. Lucy wore her pumpkin for a very short period of time, but she was too hot to wear it very long. As you can see by the second photo, we were wiped out the next day.

First Visit to the Zoo

Lucy made her first trip to the Indianapolis Zoo today with her good friend Wes. She rocked out in the Baby Bjorn while Wes looked at all the animals. She slept most of the time, but we still had a good time walking around with Eleni and Wes. The picture below is Eleni showing Wes the rhinos, which may or may not have been also referred to as hippos or triceratops. We have lots to learn about animals ourselves before we try to teach to our kids, but there is plenty of time for that.

Our Little Pumpkin

Lucy went to her first Halloween party today. We borrowed the costume from Eleni Drake's son Wes, who apparently screamed the instant he was put in it. She didn't wear the pumpkin costume very long because she was too hot, but I at least was able to get some non-crying pictures.

Two Month Appointment

Lucy had her two month doctor appointment today. She weighs 11 pounds 10 ounces (67 percentile) and is 23 and 1/4 inches long (77 percentile). The pediatrician was so impressed with how terrific her head control and arm strength were when she put her on her tummy, she said she was phenomenal. She had to get 4 vaccines today (3 shots and 1 oral vaccine) which she absolutely hated (who doesn't???). She's been a little grumpy and sleepy all afternoon, but she survived. She's our perfect little angel.
Here's a video that we took of her during tummy time (yes, we are bragging about her "phenomenal" head control, but that's what parents do). We don't put her on her tummy as often as we maybe should, because it ALWAYS makes her spit up, as you will see in the video (just a warning!).

Two Months Old

Lucy is two months old today. She keeps getting bigger and bigger. She smiles and laughs alot which is a ton of fun. She is very curious and is always looking around.

As a comparative, here is last months picture. She is definitely filling out and has much better head control.

Congratulations Jared & Kristina!!!

We would like to say Congratulations to our good friends Jared and Kristina Kakasuleff on the newest addition to their family. Jack Allen Kakasuleff was born on October 11 at 7:06pm. He weighed 7 pounds and was 19 inches long. Lucy and I went to visit little Jack today. I can't believe how small he is compared to Lucy. Just another testiment to how quickly they grow up.

Who's that baby in the mirror???

Lucy discovered for the first time yesterday that there is a mirror above her head on her swing, so we caught her in the act.
