15 Months Old

Lucy is officially 15 months old. Time sure does fly by. It's hard to believe that we are getting so close to celebrating our second Christmas with her already. Lucy had her 15 month appointment last week and her stats were:
Weight: 22 pounds 4 ounces = 40th percentile
Height: 32.5 inches = 94th percentile
Still on the path to being just like daddy, tall and skinny. Lucy is definitely keeping us busy these days. She is growing up so fast and learning so much every day. It's so much fun now that she is getting to an age where she can really understand the things that you are saying and will actually do something when you say it, and interact with you. Here are some Lucy tidbits:

  • Absolutely LOVES music, and therefore loves to dance. If a good song comes on the TV, she will show us her moves. She also knows where the IPOD dock is, and will go over to it and push stuff as an indication that she would like us to turn it on.
  • Loves to read books. She will bring you a book, turn around and back up into your lap so that you can read to her. She also has been doing alot of independent "reading."
  • Loves Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. For some reason she calls is Elmo (at least that's what it sounds like she says). We don't watch Elmo, and the only time she ever hears the word Elmo is in one of her books, but I swear that's what she calls Mickey. Her favorite part is to dance at the end to the Hot Dog dance.
  • LOVES to give hugs and kisses (our absolute favorite). The funniest part is that she pats your back as she gives you a hug. It's absolutely adorable.
  • Still thinks the dog is wonderful, and still not sure the feeling is completely mutual. She loves to grab toys out of Molly's basket and try to get her to play with them. Molly isn't always very receptive.
  • VERY talkative. Some of her frequent and favorite words are hi, bye-bye, ball, mama, dada, uh-oh, duck, book, night-night, bath, nana, no-no, more, all done.
  • Can tell you what a cow, sheep, dog, and fish say. A fish says blub-blub by the way. It's from her animal book, and it's one of her favorite ones to do.
  • Can point to her eyes, nose, ears, mouth, and belly as well as say them at the same time.
  • Loves to climb and get into anything and everything that she possibly can. If she can't reach something that she wants and she can see, she gets mad. She definitely has a little temper on her.
She has changed so much in the past few months and is like a sponge when it comes to learning new things. It's so fun to watch her concentrate and try and figure something out. She's definitely a thinker. Of course you can't have a post without a picture, so here's a recent picture of our little princess as well.

Putting up the Christmas Tree

We put up our Christmas tree over the weekend. We were curious what this year would bring since Lucy literally gets into EVERYTHING. We wondered whether the tree would survive the curiosity of our 15 month old. Luckily, she doesn't seem all that interested in the tree. Occasionally, she will take a ball off of the tree and bring it us and say "bah," which is one of her favorite things to say, but for the most part, she just leaves it alone. Now once there are presents under the tree, it might be another story, but for now, the tree seems to be safe. Here are a couple of pictures of Lucy helping with the tree.
She seemed more interested in it the first day as we were putting it up

Annual Cookie Day

Each year, my Aunt Carolyn hosts a cookie day at her house for the family. Everyone is invited to bring a recipe, or two, or three, and use her gigantic kitchen to make lots of yummy Christmas goodies. Then, at the end of the day, she gives everyone a take home container and we divide up all of the goodies amongst everyone to share with our families. She has done this for 4 years now, but this is the first year that I have been able to go. It was so much fun to hang out with my family and then have lots of yummy treats to take home with me. Here are some pics from the day.

Thanksgiving

We celebrated Thanksgiving this year with Jason's side of the family in North Vernon. We had wonderful food, ate WAY too much, and enjoyed spending time with family. Lucy enjoyed being able to eat her first real Thanksgiving meal. I was terrible and didn't take any pictures, but did manage to get a family picture taken of us at the end of the day before we left.

Lucy's First Injury

Lucy sustained her first official injury, fortunately minor. She has a large bouncy ball that she likes to play with, and in an attempt to grab at the ball, she missed, causing her to face plant directly into the floor. Of course based on her reaction, you would have thought that the world was ending, but give her a snack, and all is better. I have a feeling there will be a few more "incidents" in our future.

Day at Butler

On Saturday, we went to the Butler preseason basketball game. We went in on season tickets with 2 other couples, so we will be going to several of the games this year. This year was a drastic difference from last year when Lucy was only a few months old at the games. She basically slept through most of the games last year, completely unaware of the sounds around her. What a difference a year makes. Sitting still for the games this year will probably not be in the cards. She doesn't mind hanging out for a little while, but then she wants to go out, walk, and explore. She did pretty good this time, but there weren't nearly as many people there because it was a preseason game, so we will see what the next game will hold.

After the game, we took advantage of the beautiful day and walked around the campus to take some pictures of Lucy. Lucy loved the freedom to walk around in all the open area. Here are some of the pictures we got from the day.

Fun with Pumpkins

We carved our pumpkins this evening. When I say "we," I mean that Jason carved our pumpkins this evening. Lucy enjoyed helping pull out all of the insides, but of course the actual carving was a little too dangerous, so we left that to daddy. This will definitely be a yearly tradition for us. It was a lot of fun, plus we got a yummy snack out of the pumpkin seeds as well.

Halloween Party

We went to a Halloween party today at Gymboree with our friends Eleni and her son Wes. Lucy went as Pebbles. She loved climbing around on all of the equipment and dancing to all of the music. She even got to have snack time and decorate a pumpkin. It was virtually impossible to get any good pictures. She's at the age where she refuses to sit still or look at the camera for any pictures, so you just have to hope for the best with action shots. Here is what I could get from the day.
After naptime, we went back to Eleni and Scott's house for dinner and so that Lucy and Wes could play. She liked riding on his Tonka truck and playing with his Thomas the Train table.
